Over the past few summers I have seen a dozen weddings, including a shotgun wedding in a park, a gay wedding in the garden of the grooms gestational length bearer, costume-party wedding on the roof of a building in Queens (I went as a Pimp), a Jet type ceremony in Union and baby shower for a lesbian couple in a Brooklyn back yard, and, a wedding between two drag on the grass in a disjoint estate, performers that an equal number of men and women guests wearing gowns.
We have come a long way from Banquet Hall Kiwanis Club. But there is not much in the rule book for how to dress when the bride is a man, or when the wedding theme is "we hate weddings and don't care!" Still, no matter how unorthodox ceremony, you are always expected to do two things: (a) wear a costume that says "I am ready to party" and (b) dance at the reception to "Bust." Wedding suit can actually be a sartorial tradition where men actually have it harder than women. Guys have not breathe location: formula is always pants, shirt, jacket, tie. This means the bride has barely made it fall and you already have so many sweat patches you look like a human Rorschach test.
So how can a man get some relief?

A chance to try a color from a light cotton seersucker or khaki. If you stretch your dollars and need something you can wear for more than just the weddings and County, MN, is there such a thing as summer-weight wool. Michael Andrews, owner of Michael Andrews Bespoke in n.y.c., proposes cloth eight ounces or less. "You can get bang out of it," he says, "because the wool is office appropriate."
But if I have taught me anything, it is that jacket is not so important. After an hour, it always ends up on the back of a Chair. For shoes, because I usually barefoot of cake time, dancing with crazy party aunt. (Why has all a crazy party Aunt?)
And it is another thing that is changing rapidly: nowadays, being half-dressed almost encouraged. Remember that we live in the reality show time. An era obsessed with street fashion and paparazzi photos of unkempt celebrities outside the Planet Smoothie. Similarly, the wedding photographers increasingly are hired to provide candid pictures rather than formal arrangement of those involved. "Everyone still sure you want to capture the first kiss," says Ivan the Petrovsky, Cape Cod-based photographer. "But a lot more people looking for documentary photography."
Now your wedding garb is as much about the generous disheveled post ceremony version of your outfit as put-together look that goes out from the hotel. It's about what you are wearing when you are caught doing something unexpected memorable – crunking to "My Humps" party aunt. Key is a slim fit dress shirt (no more hiding under your jacket). And don't forget these finishing touches: now it's time to show off your old timey braces or white bucks you splurged on but never wear.
Really, it's just a bit of planning. Because when it's August and you standing in a field of 100% humidity is wearing a business suit, you'll wish you would think things through. Or that you have enough balls to wear a dress.
